Dr. Naveed Akhtar completed his Cardiology fellowship at Detroit Medical Center at Wayne State University, Michigan and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant fellowship at Krannert Institute of Cardiology, Indiana University. He has more than 15 years of experience in general cardiology and was clinical professor of cardiology at Central Michigan University. He currently is member of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Item Writing Task Force, American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of American College of Cardiology and member of Heart Failure Society of America. He is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and advanced heart failure. He deals with full spectrum of patients with congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathies, left ventricular device, cardiogenic shock and pulmonary hypertension. He performs right heart catheterization, cardiomems implantation and invasive and non-invasive exercise hemodynamics. Dr. Naveed Akhtar is a member of International Cardio-Oncology Society with additional training in the field of cardio-oncology providing specialized heart care for cancer patients before, during and after treatment in a newly established Cardio-oncology clinic at Piedmont Fayette and Newnan Hospitals. Dr. Akhtar takes pride in providing high quality services and timely follow up for his patients. In his spare time, Dr Akhtar enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
